Dr. Shin Dong-jin, the representative director of SC301 Clinic, announced on the 23rd that he has filed a patent for a 'tissue regeneration composition for fat transplant' that can increase the engraftment rate during stem cell breast augmentation.

Director Shin states that it contains polydeoxyribinucletide, a liquid cell growth promoter; sophorolipid, a microbial-derived natural surfactant; seaweed stem cell extract, which promotes fat cell growth; and trehalose, which provides nutrients to stem cells, thereby increasing the survival rate of injected fat.

He explained that encapsulating these substances in microcapsules and administering them during the stem cell fat grafting process can improve the engraftment rate.

Recently, as 'safety' and 'naturalness' have been identified as keywords in plastic surgery, 'autologous fat grafting,' which involves harvesting excess fat from one's own abdomen, thighs, etc., and injecting it into areas requiring volume instead of implants for breast augmentation and facial volume enhancement, is emerging.

Although autologous fat grafting is safe and does not cause a foreign body sensation because no foreign substances are injected, the problem of the transplanted fat being absorbed by tissues and the resulting decrease in the remaining volume still persists, leaving the challenge of increasing the survival rate. An upgraded version called 'stem cell breast augmentation' was introduced to address this, but the reality is that the survival rate in most hospitals remains at only 20–30% due to the use of substandard equipment, lack of know-how, and lax pre- and post-procedure management.

Director Shin Dong-jin emphasized, “Injecting adipose-derived adult stem cells contained in fat tissue extracted from the patient’s abdomen or other areas into fat grafting surgery can increase the engraftment rate through the stem cells’ immunosuppressive response, resulting anti-inflammatory effects, differentiation into fat cells, chondrocytes, bone cells, and muscle cells, and the induction of angiogenesis.”

He developed a breast augmentation method that fully utilizes the effects of stem cells, raising the engraftment rate of transplanted fat cells to over 70% and proving this through two papers. SC301 Clinic has been developing stem cell breast augmentation since 2007.

He is a key figure who first introduced breast and facial surgery using stem cells in the field of cosmetic surgery, which had previously relied solely on artificial implants. As the President of the Korean Society of Stem Cell Plastic Surgery, he currently possesses experience in over 2000 stem cell cosmetic surgeries.

He continued, “The injected microcapsules are uniformly dispersed in the transplant site, maximizing the fat cell growth effect,” adding, “Microcapsules can significantly improve the problem of having to undergo two or three surgeries due to insufficient surviving fat volume after breast augmentation.”
