Frequently Asked Questions
Is laser alone sufficient for burn scars?
Burn scars often entail not only physical discomfort but also psychological and social burdens. While CO2 fractional lasers are already a widely used method for treating burn scars, a research team sought to determine if adding SVF would improve the results. If the burn scars of the same patient were divided into two groups—one receiving only the laser, and the other receiving the laser combined with SVF—would the outcomes differ? An Iranian research team verified this using a double-blind study involving 10 subjects.
Why does SVF act on burn scars when added to a laser?
Burn scars often involve a combination of dermal damage and pigmentation abnormalities. While the laser stimulates tissue regeneration, SVF plays a complementary role by directly supplying cell and growth factors. Tissue Regeneration Promotion: The cell populations contained in SVF support the regeneration of damaged dermal tissue. Pigmentation Control: It alleviates the pigmentation abnormalities characteristic of burn scars by improving the melanin index.
