Most women desire a full and beautiful bust line. While body shape can be somewhat corrected through dieting and facial features through makeup, the breasts are not a part of the body one can control at will. Enlarging the breasts is an even more difficult task. Without "innate genes," it is useless no matter how good one's lifestyle habits are.

It is not uncommon for Hollywood stars to undergo plastic surgery after struggling with their breasts. Victoria Beckham, who debuted with the girl group Spice Girls and gained fame as the wife of soccer star David Beckham, is another star who cannot be left out when discussing breast augmentation.

After her marriage, she drew attention for a look that was distinctly different from when she was active in a group. Although she underwent breast augmentation surgery twice, she received criticism for looking "unnatural" as the results did not suit her trademark skinny figure. It is reported that she underwent breast reduction surgery for an "image transformation" due to the stress caused by this. If the results of breast surgery do not harmonize with one's body type, it becomes obvious at a glance that the breasts have been surgically altered. This is usually likely to occur when the wrong implant size is used. Especially nowadays, as a glamorous figure that combines a slender, Western physique with supportive breasts is preferred, it is not uncommon for people to undergo breast surgery after already achieving a thin body through dieting.

There is a growing number of women undergoing revision surgery because implants can be clearly visible if they have a slender build and thin skin. They seek to correct the blatantly artificial appearance. A significant number of these women switch to 'autologous fat grafting breast augmentation' after implant surgery.

Autologous fat grafting, a surgical technique involving harvesting fat from areas such as the abdomen and thighs, has played a significant role in overcoming the side effects associated with implants. However, even with this procedure, the volume can decrease over time as the injected fat loses its survival rate compared to breast fat. This is because the fat fails to adapt to the body and is absorbed into the body tissues.

Under these circumstances, "stem cell breast augmentation" is gaining popularity. It retains the principles of autologous fat breast augmentation while addressing limitations such as low engraftment rates. By combining extracted fat with the body's own stem cells to boost engraftment, the amount of transplanted fat lost is minimal, allowing for sufficient volume to be achieved with a single procedure. It is being performed on numerous women seeking revision breast surgery.

Shin Dong-jin, director of SC301 Clinic, emphasized, “Stem cell plastic surgery is an upgrade of existing simple fat grafting that involves extracting pure fat cells and adding stem cells to them,” adding, “This process can increase the survival rate of the transplanted fat by more than double.”

The engraftment rate refers to the survival rate of tissue when injected from a specific area to another desired area. Statistically, the engraftment rate for conventional simple fat grafting was only about 20–30%. In contrast, stem cell cosmetic surgery can expect a rate of over 70%. It primarily utilizes adipose-derived adult stem cells.

Director Shin Dong-jin explained, “We isolate stem cells from a portion of centrifuged fat, mix them with the centrifuged fat, and transplant them to the necessary areas,” adding, “Stem cells are suitable for breast augmentation because of their excellent ability to maintain volume.”

In fact, Director Shin has proven the high engraftment rate of stem cell breast augmentation through papers published since 2012. In a paper published in 2013, an analysis of the results of stem cell breast augmentation on 200 patients aged 20 to 50 who were observed for one year revealed that chest circumference increased by an average of about 5 cm regardless of age.
