Finding Feminine Beauty with Stem Cell Breast Augmentation

[Edaily Reporter Lee Soon-yong] Small breasts are likely to become a complex for women.
As breasts are regarded as a symbol of femininity, women with small breasts often feel a sense of deprivation. While foods, stretches, shapewear, and various folk remedies claiming to enlarge breasts are rampant, they effectively only serve to cover up small breasts. For instance, no matter how much a push-up bra can make breasts appear larger, the magic vanishes the moment the bra is removed.

It is commonly assumed that the thinner a woman is, the flatter her breasts will be, but breast size is generally determined by genetics. There are quite a few women who are plump but have small breasts, making them appear to have a chubby, baby-like figure.

Recently, as the voluptuous "bagel body" trend has become mainstream, an increasing number of women are actively seeking to improve their insecurities. In the past, breast augmentation typically brought to mind implants, but nowadays, fat grafting—which uses the patient's own fat to increase size—is on the rise. Furthermore, since the procedure utilizes fat harvested from areas with excess fat, such as the abdomen or thighs, it offers simultaneous body contouring benefits, resulting in high patient satisfaction.

The advantage is that it looks natural, as if it were your own breasts, rather than an artificial shape. However, it has been pointed out as a limitation that simply injecting fat results in a low engraftment rate of 20–30%, causing the enlarged breasts to suddenly collapse. In fact, quite a few women are disappointed, saying, "The good times disappear after three months."

Recently, an increasing number of women are seeking 'stem cell breast augmentation,' which preserves the advantages of autologous fat grafting while significantly compensating for its disadvantage of low engraftment rates. When stem cells are added to fat tissue extracted from the patient's body, blood vessel formation is induced around the cells, raising the engraftment rate to the 70% range and allowing the volume to be maintained for a long period.

In Korea, Dr. Shin Dong-jin, Director of SC301 Clinic, began research on stem cell breast augmentation in 2008 and popularized it starting in 2009. As a first-generation expert in performing this procedure in the country, he currently serves as the President of the Korean Society of Stem Cell Plastic Surgery and continues to produce research results.

He emphasizes, “Stem cell cosmetic surgery is safer and more effective than conventional surgical methods if performed with specialized knowledge and skilled techniques.” In fact, based on years of clinical results, he has demonstrated an engraftment rate in the 70% range.

He recently published a research paper from Shandong University School of Medicine in China stating that the higher the content of fibroblast growth factor (FGF-2) contained in adipose stem cells, the greater the increase in chest circumference six months after the procedure, proving an engraftment rate of around 76%.

One of the secrets to his improved engraftment rate is the 'microcapsule' injected along with stem cells during the procedure. This is a 'fat graft tissue regeneration promoting composition' that enhances fat engraftment rates, which Director Shin Dong-jin developed and has filed for a patent.
