[Financial News] Wishing for an A-cup? … Underdeveloped breasts, treated with stem cells

College student Choi (21) has a complex about her small breasts. She said, “My breasts are beyond just ‘small’; they look like ‘vestigial organs,’ so I don’t even go to the sauna with my friends,” and added, “My wish is to be able to fully fill an A-cup bra.”

Even when wearing a push-up bra, my upper chest was flat and noticeable, and since I didn't see any significant results from exercise or dieting, I eventually looked into breast augmentation and decided to get stem cell breast augmentation during winter break.

He said, “My breasts are so small that I think implants would look too unnatural,” adding, “But after hearing that relying solely on fat grafting would inevitably result in a low survival rate, I leaned toward stem cell breast augmentation.”

Korean women are naturally narrower in rib cages and tend to have somewhat smaller breasts. Furthermore, with the deep-seated belief that dieting is a given, breast volume is inevitably reduced.

Nevertheless, as the 'S-line,' which is realistically difficult to achieve through self-care alone, becomes established as the ideal body shape, there is a trend among women to seek 'volume enhancement' using various methods. However, it is nearly impossible to actually increase volume through exercise or dieting.

Shin Dong-jin, director of SC301 Clinic, emphasized, “Innate factors have a significant influence on breast development, while acquired factors such as lifestyle habits are merely secondary.”

This means that while breasts that are underdeveloped during recent growth can be somewhat resolved by changing lifestyle habits such as diet, breasts of women whose growth has already finished cannot be enlarged as desired simply by eating specific foods or exercising. Experts firmly state that self-care only improves elasticity and makes fundamental size improvement impossible. Ultimately, surgery is the answer for fundamental breast enlargement.

Recently, the demand for stem cell breast augmentation has been just as high as that for implant surgery. This method involves isolating and extracting pure fat cells and stem cells from areas such as the abdomen or thighs, mixing them in appropriate proportions, and injecting them into underdeveloped breasts instead of using implants. Since fat-derived adult stem cells are extracted and concentrated from pure fat cells, the engraftment rate reaches the 70% range, which is more than double the 10–20% level of simple fat grafting, resulting in high patient satisfaction.

SC301 Clinic possesses unrivaled know-how based on over 4000 stem cell surgeries performed over a total of 10 years since 2007. Based on this, it has also obtained three patents regarding pre- and post-operative care for high engraftment rates.

In particular, women with small breasts due to slow development must proceed with surgery with even greater caution.

Director Shin Dong-jin explained, “Since breasts that develop slowly have tough and dense tissue, a process must be undertaken to create a resting place for the extracted fat cells and stem cells within the breast tissue. This ensures sufficient space during surgery, thereby increasing the engraftment rate.” He added, “To secure the space within the breast for the cells to settle, the breast cavity is expanded multiple times using negative pressure prior to the procedure.”

He added, “We inject 3000 million to 1 million stem cells depending on the customer’s breast condition and desired volume, but if the space inside the breast is cramped or the breast is composed of hard, dense tissue, it is difficult for the cells to survive even if they are injected.”

SC301 Clinic is securing credibility by equipping itself with a 'cell counter' that allows the number of stem cells to be visually verified, informing patients of the number of stem cells injected immediately after surgery.

In particular, this hospital implements nutritional therapy before and after surgery to build healthy fat, the "main raw material" for the operation. The key to pre-operative dietary management is the intake of high-quality fat. The breasts consist of 75% mammary glands and fibrous tissue, with the remainder being adipose tissue; this is because adipose tissue serves as the cradle for stem cells and plays a crucial role in determining volume. The core of preventative nutritional management is to consume carefully selected omega-3 fatty acids.

Director Shin emphasized, “Breasts that have aged after childbirth already have poor blood circulation and tissues that have begun to deteriorate, so sufficient nutritional management before surgery is necessary to prevent a decrease in the engraftment rate after the operation.” He added, “Especially for women who are obsessed with dieting these days, nutritional therapy is even more necessary as it is not uncommon for breasts to sag from a young age.”
