Upgrade to simple fat grafting… Injecting microcapsules to boost engraftment rates, no need for touch-ups

Ms. Kim (32), a housewife, has been feeling insecure and withdrawn since recently giving birth. Just before her pregnancy, she had a slim figure that caught people's attention, but after giving birth, she gained 20 kg and changed into a completely different appearance. People say that breasts get bigger first when pregnant, but her breasts, which were small to begin with, did not get bigger; instead, she gained weight and became round and chubby like a baby's body. She is under immense stress.

Her husband tries to comfort her, saying it’s just because she gave birth, but she feels her pride is hurt. She dreads showing her changed appearance to her friends at a high school reunion just a month away, so she eventually decided to get liposuction. In the meantime, she learned about 'stem cell breast augmentation,' which offers the effects of both liposuction and breast enlargement, and is considering visiting a hospital for a consultation.

It is common to see women who are relatively plump but have small breasts. With a body that looks as if it were wrapped in a tire and a lack of breasts, their femininity gradually fades. Even if they diet, the breasts often lose weight as well, resulting in a flat, straight figure. In such cases, stem cell breast augmentation offers a double benefit.

You can sculpt your body by harvesting pure fat from areas where you wish to lose weight, such as the thighs, arms, and abdomen, mixing it with stem cells in an appropriate ratio, and injecting it into the breasts. The advantage is that it is safe, as it uses your own fat rather than foreign implants.

However, simply injecting fat can lead to a 'graft survival rate problem,' where the transplanted fat is absorbed by the tissue, reducing the remaining amount. To solve this, adult stem cells are utilized.

Dr. Shin Dong-jin, Director of SC301 Clinic, stated, “Injecting adipose-derived adult stem cells contained in fat tissue extracted from a patient’s abdomen or other areas into fat grafting surgery can increase the engraftment rate through the stem cells’ immunosuppressive response, resulting anti-inflammatory effects, differentiation into fat cells, chondrocytes, bone cells, and muscle cells, and the induction of angiogenesis.”
He added, “To see proper results from stem cell breast augmentation, more than 5000 million stem cells must be administered in a single procedure, and this figure can be verified using a cell counting device.”

Director Shin explained, “Although it varies from person to person, about 1000 cc of fat can be extracted based on an average body type,” adding, “The amount of fat usually transplanted to one breast is about 200 to 250 cc, similar to the size of commonly used implants.”

Director Shin also injects 'microcapsules,' a secret weapon capable of further enhancing the engraftment rate. He explained, "The components within the microcapsules act as a booster to increase the engraftment rate by maximizing the diffusion of stem cells as well as the formation and expansion of blood vessels," adding, "The injected capsules are uniformly dispersed at the transplant site, maximizing the effect of fat cell growth."
He added, “Microcapsules could improve the problem of having to undergo two or three surgeries due to insufficient surviving fat volume after breast augmentation.”

However, as stem cell cosmetic surgery becomes popular, caution is advised as there are quite a few places performing "counterfeit procedures." Director Shin pointed out, "There are countless cases where clinics advertise 'stem cell breast augmentation' but are actually no different from simple autologous fat grafting." He added, "Currently, there are hundreds of hospitals in Korea advertising that they perform stem cell breast augmentation, but there are only about 10 medical institutions that are properly equipped with devices to extract stem cells and perform the procedure meticulously." This means that it is commonplace for clinics to claim to use a specific stem cell extractor but do not actually use that equipment.

If a clinic advertises the use of specific equipment but charges significantly lower fees, you should verify whether that equipment is actually in operation. If proper equipment is not being used, even if they claim to perform stem cell fat grafting, the procedure is essentially no different from autologous fat grafting, making it easy to end up disappointed. You may end up paying the full price without seeing any significant difference in results, leading to great disappointment.
