Stem cell breast augmentation, difficult to revise, must be done correctly from the start.

Fraudulent procedures, such as low-cost platelet-rich plasma (PRP) transplants, are rampant… Clinical experience of medical staff and advanced infrastructure are crucial.

A woman's transformation knows no season. As we head toward winter, some women are already beginning to take care of their bodies in preparation for next summer. This is because it is the perfect time for various body contouring procedures, as temperatures drop and thicker clothing allows for camouflage.

If you have put considerable effort into your facial features, the next step is changing your body lines. Breast augmentation procedures that define the S-line are broadly divided into breast implant insertion and stem cell breast augmentation (stem cell fat grafting).

Recently, there has been an increase in the number of patients seeking stem cell breast augmentation. This procedure offers no foreign body sensation and, from a long-term perspective, eliminates the need to worry about side effects associated with implant surgery, such as implant rupture, leakage of contents, or capsular contracture (hardening of the tissue surrounding the implant) caused by autoimmune reactions. The appeal of stem cell breast augmentation lies in the ability to enhance one's own breasts and achieve a natural, voluminous look without the risk of side effects.

However, medical consumers need to exercise special caution, as attempting stem cell breast augmentation at hospitals with underdeveloped infrastructure or those engaging in false or exaggerated advertising may expose them to the risk of unexpected side effects. An accurate understanding of stem cell breast augmentation must precede treatment to avoid side effects and maximize surgical satisfaction.

Stem cell breast augmentation involves harvesting fat cells from areas such as the abdomen or thighs and extracting pure stem cells from them. By mixing fat cells and stem cells in an optimal ratio and injecting them into areas where volume is desired, such as the breasts, the engraftment rate of the fat cells can reach the 70% range—50 percentage points higher than that of simple fat grafting (20–30%)—thanks to the effects of the stem cells. While in simple fat grafting, the fat is absorbed (lost) by the surrounding tissue, in stem cell fat grafting, the stem cells activate the fat cells within the breast to help them engraft effectively.

However, the reality is that some hospitals fail to properly extract stem cells and, driven by excessive greed, inject an overabundance of fat, leaving patients exposed to side effects such as fat necrosis, calcification, and reduced engraftment rates. There are also quite a few cases where clinics deceive patients by pretending to perform stem cell breast augmentation while using inexpensive Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) kits to extract stem cells. Since PRP is merely an auxiliary tool that aids in wound healing or cell regeneration and does not contribute to the activation or proliferation of fat cells like stem cells do, there is a clear difference.

"Proper stem cell breast augmentation is achieved when equipped with equipment worth at least 300 million won, allowing a skilled doctor to process cells in the shortest possible time and skillfully inject them into areas requiring volume enhancement," explained Shin Dong-jin, director of SC301 Clinic. "Usually, swelling and a lumpy sensation appear immediately after surgery, but it is normal for these symptoms to subside within a month as volume is formed." He added that if fat lumps are felt more than six months after surgery, it is highly likely to be a side effect.

If side effects occur after stem cell breast augmentation, patients wish to undergo revision surgery, but the process is complicated. It can only be attempted after more than six months have passed since the initial surgery.

Director Shin Dong-jin stated, “When performing revision surgery for stem cell breast augmentation, a larger amount of fat and stem cells is required compared to the initial surgery.” He added, “On the other hand, if a patient seeks revision surgery using stem cells due to side effects from breast implant surgery, fat harvesting is easier, making follow-up procedures straightforward.” He further advised, “To avoid side effects, it is wise to seek a hospital where the procedure is performed by a doctor equipped with a proper surgical system and extensive clinical experience, starting from the very first surgery.”
