Ms. Han (30, female), an office worker, has recently become obsessed with Pilates. She has been exercising consistently for about a year and is satisfied with the slim figure she has achieved through it. After taking lessons more than three times a week, she began to feel a desire to try wearing tight workout clothes. She even looked for workout tights and sports bras, which are commonly worn by female celebrities.

In fact, if you exercise while wearing a conventional bra, the impact on the breasts increases the more intense the workout. A woman's breasts are suspended by thin fibrous tissues called Cooper's ligaments, and the body shaking during exercise strains these ligaments; if the ligaments stretch, the breasts are prone to sagging and losing their shape. This can become a source of stress, as it leads to both breast loss and sagging.

In this case, a sports bra helps prevent breast loss. It compresses the Cooper's ligaments, which serve to anchor the breasts to the chest wall, preventing them from shaking and sagging. If the Cooper's ligaments become stretched, the breasts cannot return to their original state and will sag permanently.

However, he went shopping and returned only upset. A department store employee recommended an inappropriate top to Ms. Han, saying, "You have so little breasts that you probably don't need to buy a separate sports bra." Ms. Han was so upset that she began to reconsider her complex about her breasts. It was a part of her body that she usually considered her only concern, as she could not even fit into the smallest bra size, an A cup. 

Although she had considered plastic surgery before, she was afraid of procedures involving implants, so she would often just have a consultation and let it fizzle out. However, taking this incident as an opportunity, she decided to undergo surgery for her own sake and regain her confidence rather than listen to hurtful remarks from third parties. She eventually chose 'stem cell breast augmentation' and regained confidence in her remarkably feminine body line.

Stem cell breast augmentation is a technique that upgrades fat grafting to raise the engraftment rate to the 70% range. While fat grafting, which involves extracting one's own fat and injecting it into the desired area, is safe and natural, its limitation was an engraftment rate of only 20–30%, as the transplanted fat was quickly absorbed into the body. 

Stem cell cosmetic surgery complements this approach. Similar to fat grafting, the difference lies in the process of harvesting fat from areas such as the thighs or abdomen, then isolating stem cells from a portion of the centrifuged fat. The stem cells are then mixed with the remaining fat and transplanted to the necessary areas. 

Injecting adipose-derived adult stem cells contained in a patient's adipose tissue can increase the engraftment rate through the stem cells' immunosuppressive response, the resulting anti-inflammatory effect, differentiation into adipocytes, chondrocytes, bone cells, and muscle cells, and the induction of angiogenesis. 

Dr. Shin Dong-jin, director of SC301 Clinic, stated, “The reason stem cell breast augmentation is more natural and maintains volume increase for a longer period compared to autologous fat grafting is that the patient’s own stem cells are used,” adding, “It can be likened to a balloon because it swells up while maintaining the original shape of the breast.”
He added, “Above all, since it shows a survival rate of around 70% with a single procedure, it eliminates the hassle of having to do two or three touch-ups as before, thereby reducing the inconvenience and burden of anesthesia and the like.”

He has proven the high engraftment rate of stem cell breast augmentation through papers published since 2012. In a paper published in 2013, he analyzed the results of stem cell breast augmentation on 200 patients in their 20s to 50s who were available for follow-up observation for one year and revealed that the chest circumference increased by an average of about 5 cm regardless of age.

Director Shin emphasized, “To see proper results from stem cell breast augmentation, more than 1 million stem cells must be administered in a single procedure, and this figure can be verified using a cell counting device.”
He continued, “Since beauty is very subjective and personal, we plan the surgery according to the patient’s standards,” adding, “However, as there are some universal standards of beauty, our goal is to achieve the best results by finding a good balance between the patient’s expectations and universal standards.”

Director Shin is a leading figure who introduced stem cell-based breast and facial surgery to the field of cosmetic surgery, which had previously relied solely on artificial implants. He has been developing stem cell breast augmentation since 2007 and currently serves as the president of the Korean Society of Stem Cell Plastic Surgery.
