One month before wearing a bikini... Is stem cell breast augmentation possible?

College student Ms. An (25) decided to get breast augmentation surgery to improve her small breasts ahead of the upcoming summer vacation season. However, she was worried about the short time before she could wear a swimsuit. She was concerned that the bruising and swelling at the surgical site might last a long time. But after receiving ‘stem cell breast surgery,’ she realized that her worries were unfounded.

"Seeing that even friends who only had simple liposuction had swelling and bruising lasting for more than a month, I was anxious about whether it was okay to have surgery now since it is summer," said Ahn. "However, now that two weeks have passed, the swelling has subsided and the bruising has disappeared to the point where you wouldn't even know I had surgery, so I am satisfied."

Dr. Shin Dong-jin, Director of SC301 Clinic, stated, “Stem cell breast augmentation is an upgraded version of fat grafting, a surgical procedure utilizing tissue engineering,” adding, “It retains the principles of autologous fat breast augmentation while addressing limitations such as the low engraftment rate.”

He emphasized, “Stem cell fat grafting involves separating stem cells from a portion of centrifuged fat, mixing them with the fat, and injecting them into the necessary area,” adding, “By combining the extracted fat with the body’s stem cells, the engraftment rate is raised to the 70s, resulting in minimal loss of the transplanted fat and allowing for sufficient volume to be achieved with a single surgery.”

Simple autologous fat grafting creates a natural breast line, but its limitation is that the volume disappears shortly after the procedure due to a survival rate of only 20 to 30 percent. While clinics performing this procedure generally claim that semi-permanent results can be achieved with just a touch-up after the initial treatment, those who have experienced it complain that the effects last for a little over six months, or at most about a year.

Some people mistakenly believe that the appearance of bruising or swelling is a side effect, but this is part of the recovery process after surgery, so there is no need to worry too much.

Director Shin Dong-jin explained, “Swelling after stem cell fat grafting surgery occurs temporarily due to damage to vascular tissue,” adding, “Bruising forms because bleeding that occurs during or after surgery is not immediately absorbed into the body.”

He added, “If you do not possess the skills and know-how derived from extensive experience in liposuction and grafting, do not select the equipment properly, or do not perform thorough post-operative care after fat grafting, swelling and bruising may persist for a long time.”

SC301 Clinic utilizes techniques that minimize damage to normal tissue during surgery to reduce swelling and bruising. In addition, they manage expensive oxygen tanks and provide thorough post-operative care to alleviate patient discomfort.

Director Shin Dong-jin developed a breast augmentation method that fully utilizes the effects of stem cell surgery, raising the survival rate of transplanted fat cells to over 70%.

As the current President of the Korean Society of Stem Cell Plastic Surgery, I am conducting research not only on increasing engraftment rates but also on the normalization of liposuction sites.

He demonstrated the efficacy and safety through two papers based on research data from 2007 to 2010. In 2013, he analyzed the results of stem cell breast augmentation on 200 patients aged 20 to 50 who were available for follow-up observation for one year, revealing that chest circumference increased by an average of approximately 5 cm regardless of age. The women who underwent the procedure received injections of at least 90 cc and up to 260 cc of fat cells and stem cells into each breast.
