[Bridge Economy] Stem Cell Fat Grafting Improves Survival Rate, Eliminating the Trouble of Retouches

By 2016-10-19No Comments

The recently preferred ideal of beauty is the "ageless beauty," who looks younger than her striking features. As the trend becomes to not look old and to maintain firm skin elasticity over time, new terms such as "preservative beauty" and "frozen human" are emerging.

Conversely, quite a few people suffer from complexes due to signs of aging, such as a loss of facial volume and sagging skin. Losing elasticity, sagging skin, and hollowing facial skin can make one look 10 years older than their actual age. In such cases, 'facial fat grafting,' which involves transplanting unnecessary body fat to the face to provide sufficient volume and three-dimensionality, is gaining popularity.

However, with conventional fat grafting, repeated procedures were unavoidable because the fat cells were absorbed into the body as they were after a certain period of time. 'Stem cell fat grafting' is an improvement on this. While it is similar to general fat grafting in that it involves harvesting unnecessary fat from areas such as the thighs or abdomen, it differs in that it involves separately extracting stem cells—which possess excellent capabilities for cell regeneration, division, and differentiation—and mixing them with purified fat.

SC301 Clinic has published a research paper proving that its procedure demonstrates a high engraftment rate of 76%, compared to conventional fat grafting which had a low survival rate. The effect of increased volume can be seen with a single surgery. Stem cell anti-aging surgery revitalizes areas lacking volume, such as the temples, eye areas, and forehead, restoring a three-dimensional facial line to create a youthful appearance.

Dr. Shin Dong-jin, director of SC301 Clinic, explained, “With stem cell anti-aging surgery, satisfactory results can be expected with a single surgery without side effects because the amount of transplanted fat lost is minimal,” adding, “The key is to improve the survival rate of fat cells and volume by adding a pure stem cell injection process to the existing simple fat grafting.”

He added, “Due to the recent normalization of dieting, there are quite a few women for whom it is difficult to expect sufficient results because the graft survival rate after surgery is low or there is insufficient fat to harvest,” and continued, “In such cases, sufficiently satisfactory results can be achieved by generating healthy fat through professional pre- and post-operative care.”
