There have long been many comments regarding the beauty of Korean women, both domestically and internationally. This is because there are many women in Korea who know how to dress well, so if you walk down the street, you will see many people boasting stunning looks.

In particular, when strolling through Garosu-gil, Cheongdam-dong, and Apgujeong—renowned hotspots for fashion and beauty—it is enough to make you wonder if you are in the middle of a runway rather than a street. However, since most Korean women pursue the same beauty standards, it feels somewhat regrettable that their facial features look so similar for some reason.

In times like these, what stands out is undoubtedly the body's lines. The days when simply having distinct eyes, nose, and mouth was enough to be called beautiful have passed, and an era has arrived where body lines are considered important. People who used to think of lines only as jawlines and noselines have now started managing their bodies by distinguishing between them, such as arm lines, calf lines, and thigh lines.

Among the various body lines, the bust line is what most accentuates femininity. No matter how feminine a figure may be, if that area is underdeveloped, it falls short of the standards of beauty. This is likely because the breasts are a characteristic unique to women.

Women are particularly interested in breast line because it cannot be merely concealed. While facial features can be improved with makeup or simple procedures, surgery is the only option for the breasts. Since the majority of Korean women have small breasts, almost everyone has likely considered breast augmentation at some point. However, the vast majority end up just contemplating it without actually doing it, due to fear of surgery, concerns about safety, and the potential awkwardness after the operation.



A new method of breast augmentation has emerged to address these concerns: stem cell breast augmentation. Traditional breast surgery involved artificially increasing breast size by inserting implants such as silicone or cohesive gel. However, starting in 2008, breast augmentation surgeries began to appear that utilize fat cells extracted from the patient's abdomen and thighs and injected into the breasts.

Since then, breast augmentation using the patient's own fat instead of unnatural implants has become the mainstream trend. 'Stem cell breast augmentation' is a surgery that takes this method of autologous fat grafting to the next level.

Stem cell breast augmentation is a surgical method in which fat cells and stem cells are extracted from the abdomen or thighs of a patient and transplanted into the breasts that lack volume. One of the advantages of this surgery is its ability to enhance the body's contours. This is because it is the best surgical method for sculpting the body's lines, as it increases breast volume while removing fat from the abdomen or thighs.

Furthermore, this method is a cosmetic surgery that builds upon the basic form of autologous fat grafting while overcoming the limitation of being non-permanent. Conventional autologous fat grafting suffered from a low survival rate after surgery, resulting in a repeated phenomenon where the increased volume would collapse again. This refers to the fat being reabsorbed into the breast tissue. However, in the case of stem cell breast augmentation, the survival rate has been increased by more than twofold, thereby covering all the disadvantages of conventional breast surgery.

Furthermore, concerns regarding inflammation or implant rupture, which were previously cited as side effects of implant insertion, have been eliminated. Not only is the absence of a foreign body sensation a given, but a short post-operative recovery period is also considered a major advantage. This is a result of using the patient's own fat and stem cells for the procedure, which also allows patients to overcome the awkwardness that can arise when the breasts do not age as one gets older.



As this is a new type of surgical procedure developed to address the shortcomings of various conventional breast augmentation methods, it is advisable to have the procedure performed by a specialist. Dr. Shin Dong-jin of SC301 stated, “The effectiveness of the surgery depends on the careful harvesting process to avoid damaging fat cells, the method of isolating only pure fat, and the appropriate mixing ratio and arrangement of stem cells and fat; therefore, the performing physician must possess extensive experience.” He also cautioned against confusing this procedure with pseudo-stem cell breast augmentation.
