There are CEOs who have steadfastly continued their volunteer activities. They are the members of the 'Korea University AMP Volunteer Committee' of the Korea University Graduate School of Business's Advanced Management Program (KUAMP), which has had over 3000 CEOs pass through it.

The Korea University AMP Volunteer Committee was launched in 2012. CEOs passionate about social contribution activities joined forces, led by Han Won-deok, Chairman of Handuck Engineering, who served as the 17th and 18th President of the Korea University AMP Alumni Association. Since then, they have carried out their respective aspirations for service across domestic and international borders. All donations and membership fees of the committee are used exclusively for volunteer activities. Responding to these principles and beliefs, Kim Young-sik, Chairman of the Kim Young-sik Three Children Birth Support Foundation and the 19th President of the Korea University AMP Alumni Association, also actively supported the activities of the Korea University AMP Volunteer Committee.

It is known that hospital CEOs played a decisive role in the activities of the Korea University AMP Volunteer Committee. Directors Shin Dong-jin and Kim Ji-in of SC301 Clinic, and Director Kim Jin-soo of Chiasarang Dental Clinic, served as Chairman and Secretary General, respectively, from 2012 until the end of last year. Recently, Kwon Ok-hee, Administrative Director of The One Nursing Hospital, joined as the new Secretary General and is playing a leading role in active volunteer work.

◇ Kim Jin-soo, Director of Chiasarang Dental Clinic: “Volunteering is the foundation of my life”

Dr. Kim Jin-soo, director of Chiasarang Dental Clinic in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, is a capable manager who handled the practical work for the Korea University AMP Volunteer Committee for over seven years. The committee members unanimously agree that “Dr. Kim is a person who has strived to live a life founded on generosity.” He has consistently participated in volunteer activities since his youth, and during his school days, he even contributed pocket money to help a friend who was short on tuition.

As Secretary General, Director Kim took the lead in realizing the ideas proposed by the members of the Korea University AMP Volunteer Committee.

He also stepped forward to successfully carry out major social contribution activities that exceeded the capabilities of the KU AMP Volunteer Committee. Dean Kim stated, “Looking back on the past seven years, there were many times when we faced difficulties because additional volunteer activity plans were scheduled even after our funds had been completely exhausted. Thanks to the passion of the volunteer committee members, we were able to overcome even impossible situations. I will continue to actively participate in the activities of the KU AMP Volunteer Committee.”

◇ Kwon Ok-hee, Administrative Director of The One Nursing Hospital: “A Contributing Life, How Happy Is It?”

Kwon Ok-hee, the Administrative Director of The One Nursing Hospital, who joined last August, succeeded Director Kim Jin-soo as Secretary General and established herself as a pivotal figure in the Korea University AMP Volunteer Committee. Director Kwon is a well-regarded figure in the field of social contribution activities. In 2017, while serving as an advisor to the Yongin City Talent Development Foundation, she donated 577 million won to the city as a charity fund for neighbors in need.

Administrative Director Kwon's convictions were also reflected in The One Nursing Hospital, which opened in May of the same year. Large lounges with various concepts were installed on each floor, and a rooftop garden and air purification system were established to create an optimal environment for patients. Unusually for a nursing hospital, it is equipped with a diverse range of departments, including rehabilitation, a growth clinic, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics. Furthermore, by utilizing the fixed health insurance reimbursement rates for nursing hospitals, it was possible to set medical fees at a lower cost compared to general hospitals.

Director Kwon of Administration said, “I am experiencing firsthand how happy it is to live a life of contribution by participating in the activities of the KU AMP Volunteer Committee whenever I have the chance,” adding, “I will continue to actively seek various ways to engage in social contribution activities.”

◇ Shin Dong-jin, Director of SC301 Clinic: “I am happy to realize the ‘life of giving’ I dreamed of”

Director Shin Dong-jin of SC301 Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, and Vice President Bae Jin of the Korea University AMP Volunteer Committee are recognized for eliciting voluntary participation from committee members and taking the lead in various social contribution activities.

From 2016 to 2017, he successfully led a project to build 102 houses in the Culture area of Cape Town, South Africa. At the end of last year, he formed a matching fund with Yonsei University Severance Hospital and the Nanuri Mission Vision Center and carried out a surgery project for African children suffering from heart disease.

In addition to this, he volunteered at ▲Seoul Chamjoeun Friends Association ▲Seoul Suseo Myeonghwa Comprehensive Social Welfare Center ▲Pocheon Haetteuneun Jip in Gyeonggi Province ▲Sorokdo Hansen's Disease Hospital in South Jeolla Province. Director Shin said, “I am happy to be able to realize the life of giving that I have always dreamed of through the Korea University AMP Volunteer Committee.”
