[Health Column] The Key to Escaping Aging, Disease, and Death Lies in 'Stem Cells'

By 2020-10-07No Comments

[Prime Economy] When viewed from a cellular perspective, the factors of aging are diverse, including the accumulation of toxic metabolites in the body, inflammation, a poor immune system, failure of the DNA damage repair system, stem cell depletion, epigenetic mutations, apoptosis, necrosis, loss of proliferation and self-renewal capabilities, shortening of telomeres (gene length-extending enzymes), genomic instability, changes in gene phenotype, and weakened defense against free radicals.

Furthermore, it includes autophagy (the process of swallowing and eliminating unnecessary substances), diseases such as diabetes, kidney disease, cancer, and heart disease, hormonal disturbances, radiation, environmental pollution, and unhealthy lifestyle habits such as overeating and obesity. Aging leads through frailty, through a swamp of disease, to death.
However, the key to solving this all at once is precisely stem cells. While a balanced diet, appropriate exercise, sufficient sleep, and a positive mindset are commonly known as key virtues for maintaining health, they do not provide "all-inclusive coverage."
On the other hand, while research on stem cells is still ongoing, they are theoretically perfect. This is because everything would be resolved if old and diseased cells were replaced with new ones.
Mujib Ullah and Zhongjie Sun, physiology professors at the University of Oklahoma Medical School who study cellular aging, published a review in the January 2018 issue of *Stem Cell Research & Therapy* stating that the innermost of the core concentric circles of life phenomena is the 'stem cell'.
According to them, even cutting-edge new drugs are, at best, nothing more than extremely peripheral means of controlling a few receptors, neurotransmitters, or genes. Their view is that quitting smoking, environmental protection, and healthy lifestyle habits are merely low-priority means of health promotion. On the other hand, stem cells hold the status of being capable of fundamentally solving all these problems.
Stem cells have long been applied clinically from an anti-aging perspective. First, when a mixture of stem cells extracted from fat and an appropriate amount of pure fat cells is injected into sunken and dark areas of the face, the skin becomes dramatically clear and transparent, and one can feel the vitality of sagging skin springing up.
Furthermore, stem cell breast augmentation is already gaining attention as the most ideal breast fat grafting method, based on the same clinical principles as facial fat grafting. It is being recognized as a safe and effective breast surgery, with engraftment rates proven through SCIE-level papers based on thousands of breast augmentation cases.
In addition, if a pale pink stem cell liquid is injected intravenously, a rejuvenating effect can be expected.
This is called the 'homing' effect. As a result, the skin becomes smoother, basic physical strength improves so one feels less fatigued, and it enables one to overcome the loss of motivation, appetite, and libido. It also alleviates pain of unknown origin and provides significant assistance in the treatment of various chronic or intractable diseases.
The domestic market is overflowing with clinics claiming to offer stem cell treatments. However, to maintain an engraftment rate of over 70%, stem cells must be inserted into the desired site as soon as possible immediately after extraction using advanced centrifuges to prevent damage from high heat or vibration, rapid processing, and skillful techniques.
Furthermore, it must be possible to inject 5000 million stem cells with high purity in a single procedure. On the other hand, if stem cells are handled with crude equipment and techniques, the engraftment rate remains at only 20–30%, and the results of the procedure are unsatisfactory.
It is important to find an experienced clinic, as you could suffer not only financial loss but also wasted time and emotional distress.
